early childhood development and parenting
Born & raised in Rochester, New York. I attended Cazenovia College where I concentrated my studies around Early Childhood Education & Children’s Literature. Upon graduating from College - where I earned my Bachelors of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Literature & Culture & a specialization in Children’s Literature - I relocated to Cary, North Carolina where I began my career in Early Childhood Education; I have taught preschool for 8 years, one of which I worked as the Assistant Director of a Five Star nationally accredited preschool, before being offered the Director position (where I was the Director for a year) at the sister school which has also maintained its Five Star status.
In August of 2005, my husband Thomas & I welcomed the birth of our daughter Josie. Almost exactly one year later, we welcomed the birth of our son Rob. Taking care of other people’s children has brought me great joy & there is nothing in world that is as amazing as watching children grow and develop; however now that I have children of my own I am once again bewildered at the speed at which my children are growing, developing and taking in the world around them.
Since Josie was born, I made the decision to leave the work force and become a Stay At Home Mom (SAHM). As my children get older, and are becoming more independent I am looking forward to getting my feet wet, as a Work Out of the Home Mom (WOHM). Besides getting this website off of the ground I am working towards being approved by the NC Division of Child Development to lead workshops on various child development topics. The goal of this site is offer parents & educators another resource on early childhood education and the trials & tribulations of parenthood. As this site grows, I too will continue to grow, not only as an educator but also as a mom. When it comes to expanding our minds - we are never too old, too smart, or too busy to consume more knowledge.
