Space Saving Secrets ... What to do with all of the clutter

As a family of five in a 1500 sq foot home, we are often faced with the onerous task of finding space for something … most often it is for that NEW TOY!

Whether you reside in an 800 sq foot apartment or a 6000 sq foot house, once your family grows and you introduce kids into the mix the amount of stuff you accumulate snowballs.

As a family of five (and in that mix are three gorgeous children) - our son has his own room & our two girls share a room - we have needed to become creative when it comes to storage.

Without a bonus room toys are stored neatly in various rooms (small amount in living room, & the rest in the children’s bedrooms ). We use various baskets to store toys under tables, on the floor, and we also use decorative hooks on the walls & behind doors for dress up clothes & other items that can be hung up.

We also take advantage of the hallway upstairs; Our second floor is home to two bedrooms and a bath. In that hallway there is approximately six feet of “space” that is just too narrow for most pieces of furniture, however it is now home to a toy shelf w/ stackable bins, and two baskets on the floor for toys. Utilizing this space not only gives a “home” to many toys, but also gives the children their own little play area.

It is worthwhile to also weed through old toys & clothes; Give them away, or sell them.

Ask any parent, and it is without a doubt they have a pile of something that needs a space. Check out the links below for some helpful space saving ideas!
