Thinking about returning to work?
In July 2005 I made the decision to leave my career in early childhood education and devote myself to being a stay-at-home mom. I was approximately a week away from giving birth to my first child.
Making that leap from working full time to being home with my child all of the time was challenging & it took quite a while to get acclimated. Now four years & three children later not only does our family have a need for me to return to the workforce, but I am ready for a new challenge.
You may find that getting started & jumping back into a job or career isn’t as easy as it might have been during those “pre-stay-at-home-mom years” …. However with a little knowledge & perseverance you can take that leap & be successful.
Here are a few tips to follow:
- Ask yourself why you want to return to work
- What are your interests/Do you want to return to a previous job/Enter a new field/Work from home?
- Your routines & schedules will change. Ask yourself if you are open to that change & recognize what those changes may be
- Talk to your spouse. It is important that you both communicate each other’s wants & needs for your family & yourselves
