Summer Is For Fun & Learning!

With a rising 1st grader & a rising Kindergartner (& why don’t we throw my 3.5 yr old in there too) who are home all summer, I am faced with the challenge of keeping them stimulated & engaged …

Josie had a wonderful Kindergarten experience & enjoyed school; Rob is apprehensive about starting school this fall, however the activities that await him this fall in Kindergarten are beginning to peek his interest.

While we are all home for the summer there are many activities for kids to participate in throughout the community & right here at home. From outdoor exercise to exploring nature - to practicing reading & writing at home & at the public library! Your town’s parks & recreation center may also be offering classes. The Town of Cary in NC offers a wide range of classes for young children & adults - & classes offered are less expensive if you are a town resident.

  • Through the town, my son is signed up for a tumbling class, and my oldest daughter is signed up for a dance & art class
  • Each monday at our house is water play day!
  • Wednesdays we try to go to a park, or see a $1 kids’ movie
  • Thursday we go to story-time at the library
  • We also contacted our local Fire Department & toured the station & talked with our fire-fighters

Trying to keep to a routine & giving the kids certain activities to look forward to each week make them happy & allows me to keep my sanity too! Check out the links below! There maybe something that peeks your interest & your child’s too!
